Project "Legis 75"___Concept, Artistic Direction and Music for a Videomapping at the Town Hall of Munich, Marienplatz, commemorating 75 years of Democracy in Germany

The installation was shown during the official opening ceremony after 8 years of reconstruction and redevelopment of Europe's largest technical museum.


A virtual showcase consisting of translucent gauze fabric, was lowered during the event using synchronized motors. Multiple layers of projection content were applied from diverse directions. Additionally, live music was integrated, performed using authentic vintage Moog modular 3P and Korg MS 20 synthesizers

Project_"Chronos Ex Machina"_Concept and Music for a Kinetic AV-installation, Deutsches Museum München

A 7-minute audiovisual room installation created together with visual artist Phil Max Schöll, and shown as a

part of the Tech Open Air (TOA) Festival 2017.

The installation used 9 projectors and 36 speaker channels inside the huge "sound chamber" of the Funkhaus Berlin,

to enable a fully immersive perception. The speakers were placed in a 360-degree circle as well as another circle in

8 meters of elevation height. Audio and video content was carefully synced in time -and- in the directions of origin,

transforming Funkhaus Berlin's Soundchamber into a place of immediate immersion.

During winter 2022, Lukas Taido spent a voluntary night at the A.S.R. medical sleeping laboratory in Berlin, Germany. 

During this night, more than 100.000 units of multichannel digital data
were recorded, mainly brain wave activity. Subsequent to this, the
data recorded during the four phases of 

 that night, was used in creating the soundtrack and visual content of the
installation on numerous levels. 

REM is about dreams, elucidating
certain aspects regarding the subjectivity, communicative and technological inaccessibility
and the singularity of the multitude of simultaneous dreams taking place globally.


 and conscious at a certain
moment around the world share 


single, very subjective - but still collective reality, on average approx. 250
million of people sleeping and actively 


in that very same moment, inhabit and experience 250 million independent,
subjective realities (whilst unaware of their temporary character). These millions
of co-existing realities are like quantum levels - all existing in parallel during
a singular moment in time.

We can watch the dreaming
individual from the outside, nowadays measure their brain waves, rapid eye
movements, pulse, respiration and much more, but are unable to look into, and
especially to truly share, the experience of their dreams. While the dreamers are
unable to ever truly communicate the subjective aspects of their dreams.

While the moving lines,
showing the coded animations of the cerebral activity of the artist's brain
during the state of dreaming, are projected onto the outer gauze screens, the
inside depicts, free artistic interpretations of dreams, based on historic oil paintings
by Füssli, Mandyn and Craesbeeck. These were also animated using modules driven
by the artist's recorded brainwave data and projected into the air above the
center object, a metal bed. 

The speakers placed
around the square play brainwave-data converted into audio, while the speakers
placed under the bed inside, play musical elements, which were also modified
using this data, but include subjective interpretations.

The fabric acts as a
barrier and represents the outside inaccessibility of the dreams for any other
individual but the dreamer itself.

Project: "Hemispheres"__Concept and Music for the Audio/Video Installation at Alte Münze Berlin, Germany

"Directions" is an immersive Audio/Video Installation, created specifically for the rotating cupola inside the TV tower of Dortmund (Germany), using multichannel immersive audio, multiple projectors and specifically created light-objects

This work is a meditation on the theme of 

 - and how it is rapidly changing nowadays. After using the stars for thousands of years, as well as compasses and increasingly precise maps during the last centuries, to 

 orientate ourselves - just within the last years a large part of the global civilisation is handing over this responsibility to GPS-satellite-driven navigation systems, and the invisible technology / data sources ooperating them; changing the procedure from an active process involving the use of the human mind and senses to a completely passive process of blindly following the digital voices leading the way.

"Directions" is a free artistic approach to this topic, using music, voiceover texts, abstract sounds and projections - with all these elements being in a continous motion and moving in different circular orbits.

A 26.4 sound system on the outside ring, as well as additional speakers behind the screen on the inside ring, all driven by an Iosono spatial audio system provided by 

, enable audio "objects" to move around freely through the room. A number of videoprojectors light up the circular screen on the inside ring with motion graphics created by 

 from Tokyo (Japan), depicting a red line resembling a radar constantly moving in a circle. Underneath this radar (another technical means of human orientation) pictures of lumious civilisatory nodes on the surface of the earth at night, taken from the perspective of the GPS-satellites, are temporarily revealed. Different continents are seen simultaneously as if there was no sunlight anywhere around the globe at this moment - an impression corresponding with the view from the tower during the opening hours. Small combinations of letters and numbers , representing the GPS-satellites on their paths and showing their true identification names, are drifting over the screen and sometimes the graphic terrestrial surface, and through the window reflections, merge with the reality outside of the windows.

The texts are quotes from quantum physics, old fairy tales, fiction books, internet-research bases and navigation systems leading the way from the studio to the venue (voices from Google Maps, TomTom and Apple).

Another important aspect of the installation is the 

driven by a motor to propel the former (now empty) revolving restaurant within the room, the visitors are 

 through the installation ... providing new combinations of music, text, sounds and visuals at any point in time and position inside this seemingly borderless, infinite room without a starting or ending point.

Project: "Directions"__Concept and Audiocontent for the Audio/Video Installation inside the TV-Tower Cupola in Dortmund, Germany

German poet and philosopher Friedrich Hölderlin (1770-1843) was one of the -according to some 

 most influential poet in German history. Struggling with a broken heart due to the forbidden affair with the married Susette Gontard, and mainly unsuccessful during his lifetime, as well as plagued by mental illness, it took around 100 years until the value and importance of his work became widely acclaimed.

Project: "Wo Bist Du - Licht !"__Music for the projection mappings and installations @ castle BadHomburg celebrating 250 years birth of the German Poet Hölderlin

An audio installation by Lukas Taido for the courtyard of the Weimar city castle. It was staged on 3 nights from 7th of august 7 to 9th of august 2015.

For each performance, the courtyard was opened for a maximum of 130 people and then closed until one 10-minute cycle of the installation was completed. During these 3 nights, more than 7000 listeners came to experience it.

The installation "The Memory Trace" is based upon the free artistic assumption, that in order to posess a spirit or genius loci, the courtyard of the city castle has to have means of memorizing past events, if not even dispose a "memory" of its own. Within the installation the visitor experiences - on a purely auditive level- how the inner courtyard witnessed a situation shortly after it’s construction in the late 18th century: the arrival of a horse-driven wagon and someone entering the building. But this memory subsequently changes during the passing of time, becomes transformed, distorted - and this process of the spirit of the place "forgetting" is artistically staged through six, about 3-minute-long cycles of audio,each one representing about 36 years of time passing. "The Memory Trace" creates a virtual process of forgetting: suppressing, modifying, adding false information - sometimes deliberately and sometimes unconsciously - similar to the processes taking place in our mind and emotions when we recall past memories.

The audioinstallation is reproduced on a 48-channel Iosono © 3D-wave synthesis system, which does not only provide a full-range 360 degree surround-sound but also allows vertical sound architectures.

A free artistic interpretation focussing on the unification of the city of Kempten, Germany, in 1818 - a city formerly divided in two halves since the 8th century: between the abbey and the free imperial city, between the catholic and protestant side. Reflecting on the former religious, sociological and economical conflicts in the audio and video content.

Project: "Kempten 200"__Music for the Projection Mapping on the Residence Palace in Kempten, Germany

On it's top floor, more than 600 meters above the ground, the Shanghai tower hosts the world's highest culture, music, arts and science space "Summit 632".

Lukas Taido was given the honor to be the first person to create music and soundart elements for this permanent audio installation, with it's unique audio system of 260 wave-synthesis driven, seperate loudspeaker channels.

"Skywinding" creates different musical situations and experiences taking place simultaneously at different parts around the "Eye of Shanghai", a large sculpture resting on the tuned mass damper, that reduces the swaying motion of the building. While all elements can never be heard at once, they still all belong to one common composition. 

Thus, the immersive architectural situation enables the musical composition being shifted away from a strictly chronlogical array to a rather space-determinded order and sequences. The visitors decide by walking around the space, or dwelling at a certain point, what parts of the music they hear at what point.

The artwork "Tal im Licht" was created to accompany the architectural plan "Belebtes Tal" for a complete remodeling of the street Tal in Munich's old town, developed by the Munich based architect  Markus Uhrig. According to the concept, the tarmac and traffic shall be removed and replaced by a pedestrian area, including a small water-stream with bridges, bridge-seating balconies and other islands of serenitiy and contemplation.

The 1:50 scale model uses a precise reconstruction of all the building facades on the south side of the street based on a linear-panoramaphotograph, for a micro-videomapping combined with 6-channel audio.

The sculpture was conceived as an artistic approach to challenging the common form of representation, stereotypical in look and execution, which has evidently been given priority for years with the task of conveying architectural or urban planning — to experts as well as the general public.

Project: "Tal im Licht"__Concept and Audiocontent for an architectural A/V-Sculpture exhibited @Munich Airport and Gallery Pasinger Fabrik

3 stylistically very different music tracks were produced for the presentation of the German high-end loudspeaker-manufacturer "Fohhn" at the ISE (Integrated Systems Europe) fair in Amsterdam 2017.

Each track was composed and mixed especially for the 28- channel speaker circle installed inside the booth, demonstrating not only the superior audio quality of the speakers but also the high suitability for immersive and 3D-audio setups.

Project: "Tortue Hamburg"__Music for the videomapping on the facade of Hotel Tortue Hamburg (Germany) during the Grand Opening

Lukas Taido was a co-composer, musician performing live on stage and a musical coordinator for the continent Asia during the opening ceremony of the world championships of athlectics (ISAAF) in Stuttgart, Germany.

• Mixing and overdubs in Downbeat Studios, Hamburg

• Performing as a musician live on stage for the event itself, in the sold-out Gottlieb Daimler Stadium with an audience of 70.000 spectators.

 Additionally, about 400-500 million watched the event live on TV worldwide.

In Stuttgart, musicians from all over the world (Cairo, Sydney, Bali, Salvador di Bahia) and the band in the stadium itself, were playing together simultaneously, all broadcasted live via satelite TV. Each bandmember was in charge for one continent.  L. Taido (as "Lukas Taido Velvet" in those days) additionally to playing his instruments, had a special 4-wire phone connection with Denpasar, Bali to give live-cues for the gamelan orchestra playing and singing on the other end of the world at that moment. The delays were incorporated into the musical composition, causing the music to "arrive" in Stuttgart at the right moment.

Lukas Taido has played a large number of live- concerts and DJ-sets on different occasions.

Amongst them the Daimler Benz Arena in Stuttgart or the Tacheles in Berlin, open air at the Olympic Park in Munich or at the "Karneval der Kulturen" in Berlin; as well as electronic music festivals and a number of large open air raves like VOOV Experience Open Air / Excalibur Open Air Trance Festival and many more ...

"If exploring the aftermath of a post-apocalyptic wasteland that followed the digital era, it is possible to encounter things that shine and glow in their transition to new forms of being, one of these would surely be the NEKTON, an autonomous structure who inhabits those spaces in between the inside and outside of the void"   (Ran Ancor, from the press text of the exhibition)

The 6 meter high object "Nekton" was displayed as an interactive Installation for 2 weeks in the "Platoon Gallery" in the center of Berlin, Germany. The music and soundsculptures were created by Lukas Taido and played back on a customized 4-channel audio system. Not only would the sculpture react individually on different audio and video levels to people drawing closer or moving away, also the position of the sound would be interacting with this process. By using the tracking information converted to Midi-data, the sounds would be modified on different levels (filters, volume but also position within the quadrophonic setup) by the movement of tracked spectators interacting with the sculpture

Project: "Mirror" by Flightgraf, Tokyo (Japan)______3D-Audio Support for the Projection Mapping at Herderkirche Weimar, Germany

A 4-channel audio/video-installation created for the theater "Volksbühne" in Berlin, Germany

According to a concept developed by the German painter Theo Altenberg and Djuna Lou Finnidee, four of his large scale oilpaintings were scanned and then digitally manipulated by Konstantin von Sichart. An individual "soundtrack"was composed by Lukas Taido for each of the four paintings / digital animations. While each soundtrack can exist by itself, all four can be listened to simultaneously.

In the final Installation, special screens were developed by the art department staff of the theatre, that would provide good reflecting characteristics as well as maximum sound permeability. Due to this, each of the speakers fed by an individual audiochannel could be placed concentrically directly behind the screens, creating the impression of the painting itself emmitting the sound.

Project: "Vaight II"__Music for the Multichannel Audio/Videoinstallation at Volksbühne Berlin, Germany

A complexly structured room, the 3-story high lobby of the "Dormero" eventhotel in Stuttgart, Germany, became the backdrop for a 360 degree audio/videomapping in 2012.

Visual artists Tina Zimmermann and Daniel Bandke and their team joined with Lukas Taido to create, what from today's point of view probably was the first indoor audio/video mapping of all times.

Lights go out, venetian blinds are automatically lowered and 9 FullHD projectors synced with a 32 channel audiosystem turn the "white lounge" into a 10 minute lasting, mesmerizing immersive world of visuals, music and acoustic events.

Due to the huge success, the installation, originally intended to last only for a couple of months or a year, is still shown every day up until today, still deeply impressing guests of the hotel from all over the world.

 by Apple in Frankfurt am Main in the year 1984_

reation of an audiovideoinstallation using an Apple II computer and early software (Basic, Bill Budges 3D, Pascal) at the age of 16. Projection using early RGB-videoprojectors hooked directly to the Apple II and manually synchronized with the music.

"Wo Bist Du - Licht !" Multiple Installations at Bad Homburg Castle, comissioned by the city for the
250th birthday of German romantic poet Friedrich Hölderlin, including a large videomapping
at the castle facade and an idle-loop installation at the orangerie which contained
additional 4 separate speakerchannels - with actors reciting lyrics by Hölderlin. Visuals by Philipp Geist  


"BAUHAUS 100"_Videomapping for the 100 years anniversary on the original BAUHAUS building facade
in Dessau, Germany, including contemporary circus artists performing on the

"ZOO Leipzig"_Music composition, sound-design, field recordings and spatial audio mixing for the immersive 360 degree-installation "Entdeckerhaus Arche" at the zoo in Leipzig, Germany. 3D Audio system and surround/ceiling projections plus LED screens create an educational, fully immersive space transferring the visitors into the jungle of Vietnam and other places where wildlife-conservation projects are being carried out by the zoo.
